Carmynn Zhang is a Bay Area painter and illustrator whose work blends surreal imagery and vibrant colors with personal expression. Through striking portraits, expressive figures, and whimsical creatures immersed in the natural landscape, she explores themes of the human condition, nostalgia, and the strength found in overcoming adversity. Her work weaves personal symbolism and evocative narratives to illuminate the intricate connection between humanity and the natural world.
As a recent BFA Illustration graduate from the Academy of Art University, Carmynn has garnered awards in Fine Art and Illustration, leading to her designing a 21-foot high mural for the San Francisco Fire Department Headquarters in 2024. Carmynn’s ongoing collaboration with nonprofit organization 333Arts has led to numerous public art projects in Concord, Oakland, Mare Island, and Walnut Creek. Through these endeavors, she brings beauty to local communities while continuing to explore the healing power of art in her work.
